Questions worth answering before you sign up.
Are these prices final?
No — they're indicative anchors for general availability. SmartBooks is in pre-launch. The exact GA prices, billing increments and add-on costs publish when the platform exits pilot. Cohort 1 (pilot) is free; Cohort 2 (paid pilot) is 50% of GA pricing, locked for 12 months and written into the engagement.
When does general-availability pricing publish?
When the platform exits pilot — triggered by HMRC granting production API credentials and Cohort 1 firms completing at least one full MTD cycle without major issue. Indicative timing is late 2026, but the catalyst is HMRC's decision, not ours.
Is SmartBooks HMRC-recognised for MTD?
SmartBooks is built on HMRC's MTD APIs and is working towards inclusion on HMRC's published software list. Every submission is reviewed by a named bookkeeper before it's sent.
Do you offer a free trial?
Early-access cohorts run as concierge pilots — not self-serve trials. Once general availability opens, a 14-day trial of the Business plan is on the roadmap.
Can I migrate from Xero, QuickBooks, Sage or FreeAgent?
Yes. SmartBooks reads chart of accounts, contacts, opening balances and the last 24 months of transactions from each. Onboarding is concierge for firms in the pilot.
Is there a setup fee?
No setup fee for businesses. Firms in the pilot cohort include concierge onboarding and migration in the plan.
