Making Tax Digital for Income Tax
MTD quarterly submissions: deadlines, what to submit, and how
The new quarterly cycle — cumulative updates, deadlines, and the final declaration.
Under MTD for Income Tax you must keep digital records, send HMRC a cumulative quarterly update each quarter using compatible software, and submit a final declaration after the tax year. Q1 deadline: 7 August. Q2: 7 November. Q3: 7 February. Q4: 7 May. Each update reports cumulative year-to-date figures (post-Budget 2025 simplification). The annual Self Assessment return is replaced by this quarterly cycle plus the final declaration. Tax payment dates do not change. **Read the full guide at [rraccountants.uk/mtd-quarterly-submissions](https://rraccountants.uk/mtd-quarterly-submissions).**
